The light cruiser Yubari was an experimental vessel that influence future ship building for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Weight reduction and sea worthiness was one of the main goals. The unique shape of the bow and the method of channeling the exhaust through a single funnel achieved these goals. The Yubari is one of the 3 ships that were available from the Wargaming shop during Closed Beta Testing. I decided to post this video as a caution to future sailors. In this example my engines were out and I was dead in the water. I got a little tunnel-vision and wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I decided to take a shot.... Getting an idea of how our fleet is spread and zooming in when I need a better view of what's going on. The ship was originally designed as a submarine tender and laid down in 1935 with the name Takasaki. However before she was completed, the ship was converted to a light aircraft carrier and renamed Zuiho. Zuiho was present during the Battle of Midway but did not directly engage the US fleet. On several occasions, the ships aircraft would be removed and used for strengthen land based air fields. One such example of this was in November 1943 where Zuiho aircraft, now assigned to the ground base, participated in defending Rabaul from an American raid.

This was a nice low tier battle in my Japanese Type 95 Ha-Go. Achievements won: Mastery 1st Class - Earn More XP than the 95% of players using this vehicle for the past 7 days. Fighter - Destroy 4 or 5 vehicles in 1 battle. Dualist - Destroy at least 2 vehicles that cause damage to you. Bruiser - Damage vehicle modules or injure crew of at least 5 tanks.

This battle was during the 2016 "Japanese Threat" event, featuring Allies versus Axis. During the later period of World War II, German industry was suffering due to allied strategic bombing. Messerschmitt developed the Me 163 Komet as a fast interceptor designed to attack bomber aircraft. It was a rocket powered aircraft with short flight time and limited range, but was primarily designed to take off and climb to extreme altitudes very quickly. Meanwhile in Japan, after the United States introduced the high altitude bomber, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, it was clear that a counter measure was needed. Japan soon acquired a license to manufacture the Me 163 Komet interceptor. Originally the transaction included the blueprints for the aircraft as well as the HWK 509A rocket engine, one fully assembled aircraft, three fully assembled engines, technical manuals, tooling and some component parts. Also Japanese engineers were allowed to observe the manufacturing of the Me 163 and was given flight training and operation procedures. However, not all the parts reached Japan. The disassembled aircraft and one engine was lost when the submarine RO-501 was sunk by the squadron attacked to the USS Bogue aircraft carrier. Later the plans and engines were destroyed when the USS Sawfish sunk the I-29. Despite this setback, Japanese engineers continued plans by using the technical manuals received from Germany. The project was a joint venture between the Japanese Army and Navy. The navy version was called the "J8M1 Shusui" while the army version was called "Ki-200". The primary differences between the two was the armament. Several prototypes were build and test flights were conducted. For training several gliders based on the airframe were built, called the "Yokosuka MXY8 Akigusa" (navy) or "Yokoi Ku-13" (army). By August 1945 the design was finalized and ready for production, but in the same month the war had ended and all development was stopped.
