The ship Hosho (Phoenix in Flight) was the first Aircraft Carrier for the Imperial Japanese Navy, and officially the first carrier that was designed for that role. Prior to the Hosho, all carriers were converted from already existing ships. Technically the British ship HMS Hermes was designed first, but the Hosho was completed and launched before the Hermes. The ships primary goal was experimentation with launching and landing aircraft as well as training during the second World War. She did participate lightly during the Shanghai Incident and in the early stages of the Second Sino-Japanese War, but her limited aircraft resulted in the ship not being very effective overall in combat. One may observe that THIS battle is TERRIBLE. I do very poorly as a carrier. So why would I post this video? Because this was only my second carrier battle. My first was aweful, as I didn't know the controls. This one, I am still learning, and still make a lot of mistakes (Like nearly hitting an island and letting a Destroyer creep up on me). And yet I still manage to get 2 kills, one of which after I was dead, awarding me the "Just A Flesh Wound" medal. Before I was intimidated to play CVs but now, maybe it won't be as challenging as I expected.
