The Ki-10 is the first aircraft of the new "Army" aircraft line recently added to the Japanese Tech Tree. One of my first outings, I managed to get a Falconry achievement. In the 1930s the Imperial Japanese Army requested a new aircraft to meet their requirements. The two aircraft submitted where the Kawasaki Ki-10 bi-plane and the Nakajima Ki-11 monoplane. Nakajima's aircraft was more modern, inspired by the American P-26 Peashooter. However the Army preferred maneuverability over speed, and Kawasaki's aircraft proved to be superior in this area. The Ki-10 was designed by Takeo Doi, who studied under German Aircraft Engineer Richard Vogt. The aircraft saw combat service during the early period of the Second Sino-Japanese War in Manchuria (Northeast China). Initially the aircraft excelled against the Republic of China Air Force. However during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol, the aircraft was considered obsolete compared to some of the Soviet fighters of the time. By the outbreak of the Pacific War during World War II, the Ki-10 was largely used as a trainer aircraft. Although some were still used for reconnaissance in China until 1942 when the aircraft was fully retired.
