Another recording from my July back log of videos. This time in the Tier 2 German Cruiser. Finished off a few DDs and a cruiser. Near the end I was mainly stalling near our point to make sure the lone survivor didn't sneak through and cap. The vessel, His Majesty's Ship Dresden, was a light cruiser for the Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial German Navy). During the Mexican Revolution she was ordered to Vera Cruz to protect German interests in the area. The ship would later be used to transport the exiled dictator, José Victoriano Huerta Márquez, to Jamaica where the British would grant him asylum. Dresden would have returned to Europe, but the outbreak of World War I kept the ship near South America. Later she would move to the Pacific coast and join Admiral Maximilian von Spee's East Asia Squadron. During this time, Dresden would participate in multiple battles against British ships near Chile. After which, the captain made arrangements for the ship to be interned by the Chilean government. However the HMS Glasgow, whom had fought in the earlier engagements, violated Chilean neutrality by bombarding the Dresden. The captain signaled the British cruiser that they were in neutral waters, non-combatant, and wished to negotiate terms. The Glasgow did not ceasefire until Dresden raised a white flag, and the British commander demanded an unconditional surrender. Before the ship could be handed over to the British, the crew had already prepared charges to scuttle the ship. In 1965, divers salvaged the ships compass and flags, and in 2006 the ships bell was recovered. These items were returned to Germany and placed in museums.
