Around 1909, Japan began to a program to improve their navy. They turned to British firm, Vickers Limited, and the designer George Thurston to create several drafts that would eventually lead to the Kongo Battlecruiser. One of these designs was the simply called 472 and later changed to 472C. It featured 5 turret design with 305 mm artillery guns. It was similar in desigh to the HMS Lion. However the Lion was armed with the newer 343 mm guns which would soon become standard for British ships. As a result the design was rejected and the Kongo, due to the urging of Japan to Vickers, would be armed with 356 mm guns. The Design 472C faded into obscurity as a result. In the game they have named the abandoned ship design after Mount Ishizuchi, the highest point in Shikoku. Early in this battle I noticed our guys at point A were taken out, and I knew there was a destroyer looming out there. Yet I was trying to provide fire support for point B. Sure enough, I soon find myself, along with a destroyer ally duking it out with that Destroyer. I know the Ishizuchi has thin armor. So I just tried to move and shift my speed to try and throw off the DD's aim. And it worked. It was intense but the game wasn't over. The enemy had all the points capped and a lead in the score. Me and the ally Destroyer had to race against the clock to cap points and kill enemies. Me in a slow battleship didn't help that fact but at least I was able to save our carrier which in turn, helped with defeating the remaining ships with air attacks. A close victory.
