Sometimes referred to as the Michigan Class, after her sister ship, they were the first dreadnoughts to enter service for the US Navy. The ship boasted thick armor and heavy super firing 305 mm cannons. However the cost for this was speed. At 18 knots, she was considered quite slow. Both ships took part in the occupation of Veracruz in 1914. During the Great War, both ships were assigned to escort duty. Afterwards they would be used to bring American soldiers back from Europe. Due to the limitations set by the Washington Naval Treaty, both ships of the South Carolina Class were decommissioned and scrapped in 1924. ---------- This ship, along with IJN Kawachi are the earliest battleships in the game. Players will need to learn that these massive ships aren't designed for brawling like the cruisers. Your slow reloading time will see to it that you are plugged full of holes before your second salvo is loaded. They are also not ideal for dodging torpedoes, making destroyers and torpedo planes your biggest nightmare. A good tactic is to stay behind the cruisers and engage from a distance. But don't stay too far back, as your fire support will be needed and it takes you longer to sail across the map. Also, as seen here, be sure to make use of your damage repair team. They can restore some of the ships hit points and keep you alive longer.
