I'm particularly proud of this match. Mid-way through the battle some enemy cruisers were attempting to flank our team. I parked my ship with some land between me and them for torpedo protection. Then with three lucky citadel shots was able to destroy three vessels. T'was a good day at sea. The Battleship New York, along with her sister, USS Texas, were the first to be equipped with 14 inch guns. They were also the last battleships to be powered by coal-fired boilers. Shortly after being commissioned, the ship participated in the United States occupation and blockade of Veracruz during the Mexican Revolution. During World War I, New York was sent to reinforce the British Grand Fleet. During this time, purely by accident, the ship managed to sink a German U Boat via collision. Post war reports indicate the sunk submarine was either U-113 or U-123. Because of the ships age, World War II activities would be limited to training duty, convoy escorts and coastal artillery bombardments. She supported landings in North Africa (Operation Torch) as well as the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Post war, the ship was used at Bikini Atoll during Operation Crossroads. Here, the ship survived two atomic explosions, and was towed to Hawaii for study on the damage effects caused by the nuclear blasts and radiation. Once the study was concluded the ship was taken out to sea and expended as a target.
