Just a simple cruise in BB-32, the "Chesapeake Raider". The USS Wyoming was one of two ships in her class of dreadnought battleships. During the design phase, it was considered to give the ship 14 inch guns instead of the 12 inchers inherited from the Florida Class. But doing so would have delayed the product and instead it was decided to keep the current caliber and install an additional turret instead. In 1917, during the First World War, both ships of the Wyoming Class, along with several other US battleships, were assigned to the 6th Battle Squadron of the British Grand Fleet. The intention was to strengthen Great Britain's naval efforts against the German High Seas Fleet, but neither Wyoming nor Arkansas saw active combat during this time. In 1931, due to her age and the limitations of the London Naval Treaty (an extension of the Washington Naval Treaty), the ship was converted into a training ship and redesignated "AG-17". In this capacity the ship was a non-combatant vessel and trained over 35,000 sailors near the Chesapeake Bay area, thus giving the ships nickname.
