Odd opening for a match, we only encountered Ground Attack Aircraft. Usually you might wait until the end of the battle to finish those off but since they were the only target that presented itself... After that, one of the enemy aircraft started taking one of our ground targets, which told our squadron exactly where to go. The P-51A variant was also known as "Mustang II" or by it's official designation NA-99. It was a follow up to the Mustang I which saw service with the British RAF. It featured the 1,200 hp water-cooled Allison V-1710-81 engine and was armed with four wing-mounted .50 cal Browning machine guns. Of the 1,200 that were ordered, only 310 would be built before newer models with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. Still, many of the P-51As saw service till the end of the war. Many served in China, India and Burma as fighter aircraft and escorts. Some were also modified as reconnaissance aircraft, designated F-6B. During the Second World War, the Polish government was in exile. Many Polish Air Force squadrons were formed in France, United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. They were given planes by various nations and continued to fight against the Axis forces. Some of these fighter squadrons in Britain were issued Hawker Hurricanes, then Supermarine Spitfires and later North American Mustangs.
