This battle was during the 2016 "Japanese Threat" event, featuring Allies versus Axis. In the early 1950s the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China had disagreements on ideologies, which reduced China's access to USSR's military technology. As a result, the PLAAF (People's Liberation Army Air Force) consulted with the Shenyang Aero Institute. The company was tasked with developing a modern jet trainer. The result was the Shenyang JJ-1 jet trainer, sometimes referred to as Hong Zhuan-503. One static mock-up and two functional prototypes were built before the project was cancelled. During the design phase there was consideration of adapting the trainer into a fighter. This would have been been done by adding a second 23 mm gun as well as a 37 mm cannon in the cowling. The fighter variant would have been called JL-1A-37. With the cancellation of the JJ-1, all related design concepts were abandoned and no prototype was ever built.
