Aircraft designer R J Mitchell created the Spitfire prototype, K5054, after studying the mistakes of his previous project, the Type 224. Using his experience racing aircraft, he and his team came up with one of the most iconic warplanes of the Second World War. The planes elliptical wing design gave it both incredible top speed as well as an iconic look. Because of work and various obligations, I haven't played WOWP in a while, but when I do have time, I still find it a fun game. Recently the WG website were celebrating the anniversary of the Spitfire's first flight, so I decided to take it out for a spin.
