This battle was during the 2016 "Japanese Threat" event, featuring Allies versus Axis. The first orders for the aircraft, then known as NA-73, was placed by the British Royal Air Force. The RAF called these aircraft "Mustang Mk. I". This aircraft had a mix of different calibers which included both 7.62mm and 12.7mm Browning machine guns. Later the American ordered the aircraft, designated NA-91 was planned to be named P-51 Apache by the United States Army Air Force. But later it was decided to keep the "Mustang" name used by the British. However the Americans did not like the mixed armament, so it was decided to replace the guns with four wing-mounted long-barreled 20mm Hispano Mk. II autocannons. These guns gave the aircraft more of a kick in terms of fire power and the British designated this variant "Mustang Mk. IA". Both the Mk. I and Mk. IA had successes so long as the aircraft stayed below 15,000 feet. This was due to the performance output of the Allison V-1710-39 engine. Later variants of the Mustang would resolve this by using the more powerful Merlin engines designed by Rolls Royce and license built by Packard Motor Car Company.
