As mentioned in my last video, it's been a while since I've played WOT. In fact one of the last times I played was when the T-18 was still a Tank Destroyer rather than Arty. In 1941, the vehicle was designed as a close-support vehicle based on the chassis M3 Stuart Light Tank. It was designed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. It was designated T 18 HMC or "Howitzer Motor Carriage". As the name suggests, this self-propelled gun carried a 75mm Pack Howitzer (aka M116) mounted in a fixed position on the right side of the hull. The mounting of the gun was similar to the M3 Lee Medium Tank. Two prototypes were built and underwent trials at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The results were unsatisfactory. Later interest for a different project, the T-41 which also used the M3 Stuart suspension was preferred. That vehicle eventually evolved into the M8 HMC. By 1947 both vehicles were scrapped.
