Shortly after the Russo-Japanese war, Kawachi and her sister ship, Settsu were ordered. They were the first dreadnoughts of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The gun layout was rather peculiar, with two 50 caliber turrets forward and aft, and four 45 caliber turrets mounted in the middle, to the left and right of the hull. During World War I, both Kawachi and Settsu particplated on the Battle of Tsingtao where they shelled German fortifications. The Kawachi sunk in 1918 in Tokuyama Bay when her magazine exploded, killing over 600 sailors. ---------- Like the South Carolina, the IJN Kawachi is one of the earliest battleships in the game.
